Detailed forecast

This afternoon will be fine and dry with unbroken sunshine, as the light and variable breeze becomes a light to moderate north to north-westerly. Very warm or hot for the time of year, with temperatures reaching up to around 23°C (approximately 30% chance of the all-time May record of 23.7°C being broken).

This evening & tonight will be dry with clear spells, as the mainly moderate wind turns to the east. Minimum temperature no lower than 14°C.

Outlook

Tomorrow will be another dry day with plenty of sunshine and a mainly moderate easterly wind, which will freshen and become quite gusty by evening. Temperatures reaching up to 20°C at best. Then turning cloudy overnight into Thursday with some scattered showers developing.

Showers at first on Thursday will soon clear, leaving the rest of the day mostly dry, but with an increasing risk of low cloud developing and perhaps some coastal mist. The fresh or locally strong south-easterly wind will turn to the south or southwest with top temperature around 19 or 20°C.

High pressure is centred to the northwest of Ireland, extending a ridge across the Irish Sea.

Mainly north or northwest force 3 or 4, but locally still variable 3 or less in places and occasionally increasing 5 in the west of the area later this afternoon & this evening. Then gradually veering east or northeast 4 or 5 in all waters tonight, but occasionally touching 6 in the south of the area and around the south of the Isle of Man from dawn on Wednesday.

State of Sea

Smooth or slight, becoming mainly slight this evening, and slight or moderate tonight.
