Hoosiers Urged To Report Storm Damage

(Indianapolis, Ind.) - The Indiana Department of Homeland Security is seeking property owners’ damage reports following last Friday’s storms and tornadoes.

The tornadoes in the southern part of the state killed 12 people.

A tornado did an estimated $6 million in damage in Ripley County, the emergency management agency there said. Fist-sized hail fell near Vevay in Switzerland County, denting homes and vehicles.

"Individuals with damage from the severe weather must report quickly," said IDHS Executive Director Joe Wainscott. "The faster we can assess the situation, the better."

Storm damage can be reported to Homeland Security's website at www.in.gov/dhs

DHS officials stress that reporting property damage is not an application for any assistance program.
