S-DCSC Gets Bigger 2012 Budget

(St. Leon, Ind.) - Sunman-Dearborn Community Schools will have a bigger budget for 2012-2013.

The Batesville Herald-Tribune reports the state has approved a $40.6 million budget for the coming fiscal year.

The amount is about $5.6 million more than the 2011-2012 school year, but $2.4 million less than what Sunman-Dearborn Schools had requested.

Assessed value of property in Dearborn County increased by $1.4 million for 2012, while Ripley County saw value reassessed at a $4.6 million decrease.

The large Ripley County decline won’t have a major impact, however. School corporation financial operations director Charles Blake said 90 percent of the school district is in Dearborn County, so Ripley County’s decrease is not really noticeable.
