(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – The Lawrenceburg Community Schools Board of Trustees made two new hires Monday evening.
The board unanimously approved the hiring of high school baseball coach and Greendale Middle School physical education teacher Joe Vogelsang as the new high school athletic director, said district Superintendent Karl Galey.
Given a two year contract, Vogelsang will fill the void left by longtime athletic director Glenn Crocker, whose contract is not being renewed.
Galey said the school corporation does not plan on Vogelsang continuing to coach, although he will move to teaching physical education at the high school.
Vogelsang has been with the school corporation for 14 years. In addition to coaching the high school baseball team since 2002, he has also coached middle school football and basketball, as well as serving as offensive coordinator for the varsity football team.
The board also voted to hire John Blackwell as the new Lawrenceburg High School boys varsity basketball coach. Read more on the hiring on our sports page.
