Bomb threats reported on multiple flights, including two from UK airports

At least four flights, including two from the UK, have been affected by bomb threats, which caused unplanned landings and temporary airport closures.

Warsaw-Modlin Airport temporarily closed after a flight from London Heathrow, operated by Polish airline LOT, was diverted there. It had been due to land at Warsaw-Chopin Airport.

The airport has since reopened and no device was found.

A bomb threat was also reported on a Scandinavian Airlines flight from Copenhagen to Warsaw, which landed at Warsaw-Chopin Airport, with the airport later confirming that no device was found.

In the other incident, a Ryanair plane from Manchester made an emergency landing at Murcia airport in southern Spain, due to another threat, with 114 passengers and seven crew members leaving the plane.

Francisco Lucas, the Spanish government's delegate in the region, said on X that the Civil Guard ruled out the presence of explosives on the plane from Manchester following its inspection.

A plane from Israel was also forced to land in Bulgaria at Sofia's Vasil Levski Airport following a bomb threat, Reuters news agency reported.

The threat was made by email, according to Lyubomir Nikolov, the acting chief secretary of Bulgaria's ministry of interior.

The affected flights are:

  • A Ryanair flight from Manchester to Murcia
  • A LOT flight from London Heathrow to Warsaw
  • An SAS flight from Copenhagen to Warsaw
  • A flight from Israel, which landed at Sofia

The threats come a day after a Wizz Air flight from London to the Bulgarian capital Sofia was diverted to Budapest airport after receiving a bomb threat.
